Muffins for any pantry

I'm a huge fan of a recipe that can accommodate any state my pantry might be in. Whether it's full or empty or just missing a few key ingredients I love base recipes that I can add anything to and make it my own.

That's why this recipe from Culinary Arts is definitely one that should be in your
recipe box. I added a chopped apple, dried cranberries and a maple glaze and voila I'm a baking genius. (In my own mind and I'm ok with that)

Here's the link to the beginning of delicious goodness :

What would you add to a base muffin recipe?
